When the daffodils start to flower along the road between Frodsham and Helsby, known to many as “The Golden Mile”, it is the sign that Spring is on the way. The scheme was the brainchild of the then Chair of Frodsham Town Council, the late Maureen Turner. The Council agreed to purchase the first bulbs. Volunteers were needed to plant the bulbs and Maureen contacted Ron Sayle, then Group Scout Leader of 4th Frodsham Scouts. First planting was in Autumn 1999, ready for Millennium. Since then, Ron, with scouts from 3rd and 4th Frodsham, family members, local councilors and more recently community volunteers, have given their time for us all to enjoy the golden haze. Last year, KDE Ltd made a very generous donation to boost the number of bulbs for planting. Ron will be celebrating 25 years of organizing this beautiful show – many thanks Ron
